There are a little over thirty Amans in the world and each one is built around the specific place it sits in: a Ming dynasty courtyard in Beijing, a tented camp under the red rock at Amangiri, a monastery above Venice's lagoon. The rooms are large, the palette is a study in beige and stone, and the service works by anticipation rather than announcement.
