Richard Branson's Virgin Group came to cruising with the aim of doing it differently, and the result is closer to a boutique hotel with a nightlife than to a traditional ship. There is no buffet and no main dining room. In their place is a set of individual restaurants, all covered by the fare, along with gratuities and group fitness classes.
Passengers, whom the line calls Sailors, are all adults. Design is bold and contemporary, with hammocks on the balconies, a red-accented colour scheme and a tattoo studio on board. Entertainment favours immersive shows and late-night parties over revue theatre. On many Caribbean itineraries, the ship spends a day at the line's private beach club on Bimini.
