Secret Atlas

ExpeditionLuxury

Micro-expeditions for very small groups in Svalbard, Greenland and Antarctica.

Small expedition ship in sea ice

Secret Atlas works at the smallest end of expedition cruising. Its vessels carry only a handful of guests, which changes the character of a polar voyage. Everyone goes ashore together without waiting for a turn, landings can last for hours, and the ship can slip into narrow fjords and anchorages closed to larger vessels.

The pace is patient. Guides will stay with a polar bear on the ice or a pod of whales for as long as the encounter lasts, which is one reason the voyages appeal to photographers. Accommodation is comfortable but simple, in keeping with the size of the boats, and meals are taken together around a shared table.
